what’s the best slogan ever?

Posted on Sep 30, 2011 in Advertising

copywriting is an art, no doubt. and think of all the great timeless slogans out there that started life as part of an ad campaign and now have been immortalized upon entering common vernacular. i especially love when a slogan gets taken and adapted, like for memes. “keep calm and carry on” is probably the perfect example. at work we’ve got a handy “keep calm and have beer” to remind everyone of their friday priorities.

check out this interesting article on creative review on “the best slogan ever”.

and incidentally, when you’re slogan is appearing on condoms, you know you have a winner.

experiment in minimalism

Posted on Sep 28, 2011 in Photography

a portion of a red dress was fluttering down from the balcony above mine. thought it would make an interesting shot. i’m really into the whole minimalism in photography- think it can be quite poignant and one of the best examples of less is more! i’m definitely going to be exploring this territory further.

anya ayoung-chee: an edgy style

Posted on Sep 25, 2011 in uncategorized

i have to admit i was skeptical when anya ayoung-chee turned up at project runway claiming she had learned to sew in just four months. but she’s won me over, not only due to the unusual clothes that she makes (patterns!) but also because of her own incredible sense of style. it takes balls to walk around with a half-shaved head! cassie did it for a bit and it looked pretty neat, but anya takes it to a whole different level. it’s also noteworthy that she’s making a promising career for herself after winning miss trinidad and tobago universe 2008 and putting the whole sex tape scandal behind her. i’m pretty excited to see where her career as a fashion designer takes her!
